Halo
for the XBox is one of the best games ever to have been released
for any platform.. It has everything you need: great story, great
visuals, great sound, great gameplay, great multiplayer modes, great
replayability.
Essentially, you play a enhanced-type soldier known to the other
characters affectionately as Master Chief. The Covenant,
an alien race, is attacking you. It is your job to rescue the remaining
survivors of your attack. Plus throw in a couple of twists which
I will not spoil for you. Now, let's get on to the nitty gritty.
Audio-wise, the game is insane. 5.1 Dolby Digital on-the-fly-decoding.
What does that mean to you? If you have a nice 5.1 home theater
setup, you will hear enemies coming from ALL around you. If you
look around as other characters speak to you, their voices travel
the different speakers in relation to where you are looking. Just
plain badass man, BADASS!
Visually, the game is very nice. I play on a widescreen TV and
this game does not support widescreen so everything looks a little
stretched out. However, I would never have noticed this if I didn't
play on my friends TV which is a normal 4:3 ratio. The game still
looks amazing stretched out though so don't let that keep you from
buying the game.
The controls are very intuitive. The left joystick moves your body
around and the right joystick is for looking. This allows you to
strafe around an enemy in circles while always pointed at it (with
a little practice of course.) This comes in really handy when in
multiplayer mode which is where Halo really shines. There is nothing
like having a few friends over and trying to kill eachother in multiplayer
mode. There are MANY different types of multiplayer games ranging
from King of the Hill to Capture the Flag to Elimination. Lots of
good stuff. What is even more fun? Have your buddy bring over his
Xbox and link them together. Now you have a 4 on 4 Halo frenzy.
Good Stuff Maynard!
Buy
it now fools!
