Dead
or Alive 3 for the XBox is in my opinion the best fighting game
ever to have been released. Yes, I loved Tekken 2 for the Playstation.
Yes, I loved all the Street Fighter variations when they came out
in the arcades. But I'm not talking about nostalgia here, I am talking
about the most enjoyable fighting game available right NOW.
The gameplay is takes a little getting used to. In addition to
the punches, kicks, and throws normally associated with fighting
games; you are also able to counter opponents moves. This
leads to very edge-of-your-seat matches as the you are now able
to counter your opponents in the middle of their combos and in turn
dish out some damage in return. Gone are the days of sitting there
blocking while waiting for your opponents combos to finish. Punish
them for not varying their attacks!
The audio and video are EXCELLENT for this game. The soundtrack
is suits the game well with electronic-type music. However, the
visuals are stunning. I am playing on a Mitsubishi 65-inch Widescreen
HDTV. This game supports 480P output as well as 16:9 aspect ratio
natively. What does this mean to you people? It means that I can
play this game in widescreen mode and it fills my TV to the edges
with no distortion (games with no 16:9 support end up with circles
looking like ovals.)
Finally, I would go to Hell if I left out commentary on the female
characters in DOA3. The Dead or Alive series is well-known for it's
Bounce factor. DOA3 doesn't show the girls' boobs bounce
as outrageously as the previous titles, but the boobs are still
there and they are very nice. However, there are only three costumes
for most of the characters. Have no fear though, as the June issue
of the official XBox magazine will have an add-on DOA3 disc that
gives you additional costumes and an extra movie. This will make
the US version match the European version which was released much
later, with more material.
Buy
it now fools!
